Pavel Likhonin is currently a 5th year student at The Pennsylvania State University, where he is studying Architectural Engineering. With a focus in the mechanical design, Pavel will graduate in May 2010 with an integrated Bachelor and Master of Architectural Engineering degree.
Pavel has been involved with several on-campus organizations including the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), Phi Alpha Epsilon, the Architectural Engineering Honor Society, Phi Eta Sigma Honors Society, and the Student Society of Architectural Engineers (SSAE). Pavel is the treasurer of ASHRAE for the 2009-2010 academic year, as well as the secretary for Phi Alpha Epsilon. Pavel also joined an “Integrated Sustainable Design” team and participated in the 2009 ASHRAE Student Design Competition that placed 2nd internationally.
During the Past two summers, Pavel had two very different internship experiences. His first internship was with Donohoe Construction. Here, Pavel increased his knowledge in the construction process as well as accepting numerous responsibilities including the completion of punchlists and management of multiple subcontractors. During his most recent internship with AECOM Design, Pavel obtained valuable experience in mechanical design. Assisting with several government projects between the Arlington and the DC offices, he was able to enhance his understanding of controls, load calculations, LEED submittals and equipment selection.
Upon graduation, Pavel will acquire Engineer in Training (EIT) status. He looks forward to future employment with an MEP or an AE design firm. He will be working toward licensure as a Professional Engineer as well becoming a LEED accredited professional.
